Decide disqualification pleas of Mah Shiv Sena & NCP MLAs by Dec & Jan 31 SC directs speaker

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Supreme Court on Monday directed the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar to decide the disqualification petitions of Shiv Sena & NCP MLAs by December 2023 & January 31, 2024, with respect to last year's political crisis in the state.
The Apex Court directed Narwekar to decide the disqualification petitions against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the MLAs (Member of Legislative Assembly) who backed him during the rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray last year.
A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dr Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, and also comprising Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, passed the order.
